Lincoln University to Participate in “Real Men Cook for Charity” Event on Father’s Day at First District Plaza

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA ~ Lincoln University, celebrating its 154th year as the nation’s first Historically Black University, will participate in the 19th annual “Real Men Cook” charity event on Father’s Day, June 15th from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the First District Plaza at 3801 Market Street in Philadelphia.   Lincoln’s “Real Men Cook for Charity” team will include Dr William B. Bynum Jr., Lincoln’s Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management serving his dish “Seven Steak and Okra” and the university’s Office of Minority Male Health (OMMH).   OMMH will conduct blood pressure and diabetes screenings at the event and provide health information of importance to men.  The University’s Office of Admissions will also staff a booth to distribute academic and program information to potential students.

This “party with a purpose” is a fun filled event that features something for everyone including:  food tasting, cooking demonstrations, entertainment, children's activities, health screenings, door prizes, and more. 

With a mission to build families and provide the opportunity for non-profits to raise money from event ticket sales, Real Men Cook® for Charity mobilizes and spotlights hundreds of men in urban communities across the country who are willing to donate their time and resources to cook and serve samples of their favorite dishes on Father’s Day.   Real Men Charities, Inc., whose mission is to create and sustain healthy families, is the national charity partner in each event city.  A portion of the proceeds from the Philly event will benefit Communities in Schools of Philadelphia (CISP). In addition to Philadelphia, Real Men Cook will be serving up family fun in Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, and Washington, DC. 

Lincoln University is a part of a team of local sponsors who work with the local Real Men Cook Organizing Committee.  Other sponsors include, NBC 10, Philadelphia Tribune, Philly Coke, and Home Depot among others.
