LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA ~ Lincoln University President Ivory V. Nelson has announced that Gary Clarke has been promoted to the position of registrar at the nation’s first degree-granting historically black institution.
“We are pleased to appoint Gary to this important position,” President Nelson said. “He has a keen understanding of the functions of an office so critical to the effectiveness of the university.”
Clarke joined Lincoln University as associate registrar in 2006 and had held the position of registrar on an interim basis since December.
He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2000 and a master’s in administration, both from Lincoln University. He is pursuing a master’s in school counseling.
Before coming to Lincoln University, Clarke was a site administrator for the Raising Horizons Quest Charter School in Philadelphia.
He is a member of the American Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers, the National Association of College Deans, Registrars and Admissions Officers and the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society.
Founded in 1854, Lincoln University is a premier, historically Black University that combines the best elements of a liberal arts and sciences-based undergraduate core curriculum and selected graduate programs to meet the needs of those living in a highly technological and global society. The University is nationally recognized as a major producer of African Americans with undergraduate degrees in the physical sciences (biology, chemistry and physics); computer and informational sciences; biological and life sciences. Lincoln has an enrollment of 2,423 undergraduate and graduate students.
