LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (www.lincoln.edu) -- Lincoln University’s Fall 2005 enrollment is the largest in its 151-year history. President Ivory Nelson, pleased with achievement of this milestone, stated “Lincoln University is strategically positioned and nationally recognized for adding value to its students – academically, socially, and culturally – and we are pleased that more students are taking advantage of the opportunities that we provide. The University, through its construction of a new state-of-the-art residence hall and subsequent campus renovations is committed to providing our future leaders with an enhanced learning environment.”
According to William B. Bynum, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, the student body now numbers 2,278 and is comprised of record numbers of undergraduate (1,714) and graduate students (564). The University’s new residence hall, which is a part of a $132 million campus-wide construction and renovation project, has created the room for expansion and made it possible for Lincoln to vastly increase the size of its student body. The majority of the University’s current students (1,139) are Pennsylvania residents, while many others hail from New York (402), New Jersey (267) and Maryland (154).
Lincoln University is a premier Historically Black University that combines the best elements of a liberal arts and sciences-based undergraduate core curriculum and selected graduate programs to meet the needs of those living in a highly technological and global society. The University is nationally recognized as a major producer of African Americans with undergraduate degrees in the physical sciences (biology, chemistry and physics); computer and informational sciences; biological and life sciences.
