Lincoln is offering musical scholarships to potential band and choir members.

Lincoln University, PA (www.lincoln.edu)—The Lincoln University Concert Choir and Concert Band are currently conducting on-campus auditions for students with singing and musical instrument talent. Students who earn a place on in the band or choir may be eligible for scholarships ranging between $1,000-$2,500 for the 2003-2004 academic year. Auditions began on June 2 and will continue through July 3.

“The Concert Choir and Concert Band are looking to expand our collective talent pools,” said Dr. Garcia. “While we currently have a number of gifted Lincoln students in the concert choir and band, we have lost some students to graduation. Through these scholarship auditions, we hope to replace those students and perhaps acquire some ‘diamonds in the rough’.”

The University Concert Choir and Concert Band are the premier choral and instrumental ensembles at Lincoln and have a long tradition of excellence. The Concert Choir recently completed an East Coast tour and has performed at such high profile events as Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell’s inaugural festivities in Harrisburg, Pa. earlier this year.

The Concert Choir and Concert Band are composed of University students who are majoring in music, computer science, communications, mathematics, biology, chemistry, education, and other disciplines offered at the University. Members come from Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington, DC, and Connecticut.
