LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – TV’s Judge Glenda Hatchet and BET’s Jeff (Cousin Jeff) Johnson will be among panelists for the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc.’s 2013 Legacy Lecture Series on Thursday, March 21st at 11 a.m. at Lincoln’s International Cultural Center (ICC).

The Series, whose Lincoln theme is “Educating Student Leaders To Be Healthy, Wealthy And Wise,” is underwritten by Wells Fargo, Delta Airlines, the Hall of Fame, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the University.
The Hall of Fame Foundation, whose aim is to advance the reality that HBCUs are valuable treasures and critical resources that help transform the seeds of potentiality into the fruits of possibility, is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the growth and development of HBCUs through scholarships, internships, training and technical assistance, alumni recognition, and programs to encourage humanitarian involvement.
According to its website, the impetus of the Legacy Lecture Series is to position students for leadership roles in society through education and mentoring. To this end, the Legacy Lecture Series is designed to equip and empower students to overcome the economic, social cultural and political challenges of today, and to re-shape the fabric of America as they step into tomorrow. The Series is presented on various HBCU campuses throughout the academic year.
So far, the Hall of Fame has held its lecture series at Texas Southern in February, and has a third lecture scheduled at Virginia Union on April 17th.
Other panelists include Physical Fitness guru Andrea Riggs, who will also lead a fitness activity in the Wellness Center at 7 a.m. that morning, Thomas W. Dortch, Jr., Hall of Fame Chairman of the Board, Jasmine Matthews, Miss Hall of Fame, Shannon Taitt, SAMHSA, and Sonya Dukes, Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo.
Cash prizes will be awarded to students and student groups in attendance, including a $250 book voucher and a $500 prize for the student organization with the most attendance.
Lincoln University of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, founded in 1854 as the nation’s first degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU), combines the elements of a liberal arts and science-based undergraduate curriculum along with select graduate programs to meet the needs of those living in a highly-technological and global society. Today, the University enrolls a diverse student body of approximately 2,000 men and women. Internationally recognized for preparing and producing world class leaders such as Thurgood Marshall, the first African American U.S. Supreme Court Justice, Lillian Fishburne, the first African American woman promoted to Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy, Langston Hughes, the noted poet, Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana and Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first President of Nigeria.
