‘Sustainability At The Lincoln University – PA’ Engages Students, Public On Green Issues
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – The Lincoln University establishes ‘Sustainability At Lincoln University – PA’ Facebook page to promote the university’s sustainability efforts, including its 1,854 Acts of Green recently initiated as part of Campus Sustainability Day (CSD).
Those interested in the university’s sustainability efforts are encouraged to visit and click “LIKE” at www.facebook.com/gogreenlu. The page will represent a hub for information and engagement on sustainability issues at the university.
Last year, Dr. Robert R. Jennings, president of The Lincoln University, signed the President’s Climate Commitment, a pledge for university’s to engage and complete various sustainability efforts on their campuses.
Since then, a Sustainability Advisory Board was created, representing university students, faculty and staff to review and begin various initiatives, including its 1,854 Acts of Green. That initiative, named for the university’s 1854 founding date, is meant to encourage university departments, students and student organizations to perform 1,854 sustainability efforts on campus by May 2014. Each effort must address one or more of the three Pillars of Sustainability: social, environmental and economical. The university has also held an All-University Convocation, which discussed and highlighted sustainability issues through a dramatic skit.
In October, Kevan Turman, Special Assistant to the President and Eric Webb, Director of Communications & Public Relations for the university, participated in and represented the university at the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s national conference in Nashville, TN.
Founded in 1854, The Lincoln University (PA) is the FIRST of four Lincoln Universities in the world and is the nation’s FIRST degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The University combines the elements of a liberal arts and science-based undergraduate curriculum along with select graduate programs to meet the needs of those living in a highly-technological and global society.
