2015 Thanksgiving Recess (Fall Break) Closing Procedures

Closing and Reopening Dates

The University is officially closed Friday, November 20, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. through Sunday, November 29, 2015.  No student will be allowed to remain in the residence halls under any circumstances.  Students should prepare travel arrangements accordingly; staying on campus is not an option. The residence halls will re-open Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. 

Departure Checklist
Roommates should ensure that the following procedures are completed prior to departure. The last person to leave the room, apartment or suite is responsible for making sure that all these items have been completed.  Failure to complete any steps will result in a $200.00 fine charged to your student account.

  • Make sure the room is clean and tidy.
  • Dispose of all perishable food and trash.
  • Unplug all appliances: printers, refrigerators and surge protectors.
  • Close and lock windows.
  • Put blinds down, but leave them open; open shades.
  • Take all valuable items including checkbooks, prescriptions, televisions, game systems, and computers, etc. 
  • Clear the heating unit of all items.
  • Turn off all lights and lock doors.
  • Do not turn in room keys to the RA or RHC during Thanksgiving break.  Turning in room keys only applies to winter break.

Re-entry into the building will not be granted for any reason during the Thanksgiving break.  Any items considered to be of value to you need to be taken home.  The university will not be held liable for valuable items that you choose to leave behind.  

Check-out Procedures

A Residence Life staff member will review your room after your departure and your account will be billed for any excessive trash or damages found.  All residents are required to complete the following procedures in addition to check-out procedures by 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015. No exceptions.

Dining Services Affected by Break

Thompson Hospitality will close Friday, November 20, 2015 after the dinner hour.  Thompson Hospitality will resume on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.  Breakfast and lunch will not be served Sunday, November 29, 2015.
