Ashton Burrell, a 2014 Lincoln University alumnus and current graduate student, was awarded the 2016 Community Service Award from a Johnson & Johnson, Inc. employee group during the 38th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. observance on February 11 at the corporate headquarters in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
The award, in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., honors Johnson & Johnson employees and members of the local community who have demonstrated a passion for others through their caring and service. The employee group is called Helping Our Neighbors with Our Resources or “HONOR.” Burrell is member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and the NAACP New Brunswick branch executive board. He was appointed in November 2014 to the human relations advisory board for the state of New Jersey.
Burrell, a 2010 graduate of Highland Park (New Jersey) High School, earned his undergraduate degree in business management from Lincoln and expects to receive his master’s degree in business from his alma mater in December 2016.
