Lincoln University, Pa. – During the month of September, Lincoln University is joining colleges and universities across the country participating in National Campus Safety Awareness Month.
Lincoln will highlight its commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful campus community by hosting events such as R.A.D. Systems of Self Defense classes (for women only), instructional fire drills and fire safety events, promotion of the safety escorts program, and crime prevention education.
“Our students deserve a campus where they can live, learn, and work without fear of violence or discrimination,” said Public Safety Director Ruth A. Evans.
Laura Egan is the director of training and technical assistance for the Clery Center for Security on Campus, a national non-profit that works with college and university communities to create safer campuses.
“It’s critical that institutions set expectations about what contributes to the positive development of their community and how all individuals play a role in this work,” Egan said.
The main campus is patrolled by unarmed and armed, sworn Police Officers commissioned by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers Education & Training Commission. The Department of Public Safety consists of a director, a chief of police, three sergeants, three corporals, 14 police officers, and eight security officers.
