Kimberly

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY - Annie and Taylor both agree that they have many great childhood memories and the two Philadelphia sisters will make a new special memory together: graduating from Lincoln University. It’s a special week for the entire Benns family as their mother Kimberly will graduate May 10 from Temple University with a doctorate in higher education leadership and administration.  As the mother of the graduating sisters, Kimberly is thrilled to see her daughters accomplish their educational goals.

“I am proud to have raised two strong women who know what they want,” said Kimberly Taylor-Benns, who serves as the associate vice president for enrollment management at Lincoln. “Knowing their stories and seeing them cross the stage is a blessing and an amazing moment for the entire family, it never gets old.”

“What makes the day extra special for me is that it is my birthday”, said Taylor.

Taylor

Taylor Lindsey Benns, the younger sister, will be graduating from Lincoln with a Bachelor of Arts in human services. Prior to matriculating at Lincoln’s University City location, she received her associates degree at Montgomery County Community College where she was a regular on the dean’s list. When it came time to transfer her credits, Taylor credits the staff members at University City for making the process a breeze.

“At University City, staff members Jernice Lea and Tina Marie Dischinger made sure I was on track to graduate on time,” said Taylor. “The faculty members at University City understand the non-traditional paths to education that many of their students are taking, and that makes all the difference.”

After graduation, Taylor will focus on preparing for the June Law School Admissions Test with the hopes of attending law school in the fall.

Annie

Her older sister, Annie Patricia Benns, will be graduating with a Master of Arts in human services. In 2015, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in religious studies from Temple University, and currently works as a staffing coordinator at Genesis Healthcare in Wyncote.

Armed with her master’s degree, Annie plans to transition into a career of public service. “I plan to work in social services and help disadvantaged youth,” said the Temple alumna, “Studying at University City has shown me how to turn my passion into a career.”

Like her mother, Annie plans to pursue a doctorate in the near future.
