Kerns art work featured in exhibition
Christina Kerns, an assistant professor in Lincoln's visual and performing arts department, has released new art work now on display at the NAPOLEON art space in Philadelphia.
NAPOLEON opened in 2011 as an exhibition for under-recognized art and artists in the region. The space provides month-long exhibitions and serves as a platform for artist-members to show their work in Philadelphia and beyond.
Office of Male Achievement accepts ACPA award
Under the guidance of Jonathan Harris, area coordinator in the Office of Residence Life, Lincoln’s male achievement office was awarded the Outstanding Men’s Program Award from the American College Personnel Association.
The ACPA–headquartered in Washington, D.C. at the National Center for Higher Education–is a leading comprehensive student affairs association with over 7,000 members representing 1,200 private and public institutions from the U.S. and around the world. Members include graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in student affairs and higher education administration programs as well as faculty, student affairs educators and organizations that are engaged in the campus marketplace.
The Outstanding Men’s Program Award is given to programs at higher education institutions that provide a positive impact on men's social, academic and professional development.
Gray receives SERDP Grant
Dr. Monica Gray, an assistant professor in the physics and chemistry department, has collaborated with researchers at Drexel University’s Academy of Natural Sciences to work on a successfully grant funded project titled “Uptake and Bioaccumulation/Biomagnification of Subsurface-derived PFASs by Lotic, Warm Water Food Webs.”
The $35,371 grant–funded through the Department of Defense Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP)–will be used to mentor five student interns in research methods, background and literature review, and laboratory operating procedures.
Gray will also assist students with poster development, conferences, and science fair presentations. She will also accompany students during on-site visits to Drexel University, where selected students will participate in 6-week field internships as well as environmental labs.
