March 27 Major Mixer
IT’S MAJOR DECLARATION TIME and many of our first year students will declare a major during April’s fall 2019 pre-registration period. In anticipation of this, the Academic Support Unit and the First Year Dean will host the 5 th Annual Major Mixers in Frederick Douglass Hall’s First Floor Lounge from 5:00pm – 6:00pm.
Major Mixers for March 27 include Majors: History, Political Science, Philosophy, Religion & Pan-Africana Studies / International Relations / Pre-Law Certificate / English Liberal Arts, Criminal Justice, Sociology & Anthropology / Foreign Languages / Mass Communications / Visual Arts & Museum Studies / Performing Arts.
We would like to invite the Department Faculty and Student Majors to come out and mingle with the deciding students. Faculty will give formal introductions at 5:30pm to the group. This is a prime occasion for faculty to showcase the departmental majors and minors to potential recruits. We appreciate your willingness to enlighten students about the exciting possibilities each departmental major and minor has to offer. We thank you for your robust past support of this effort.
Some possible information to highlight that may be of interest to our first year students: graduate school, summer enrichment, travel enrichment, faculty research interests, departmental honor society, scholarships, faculty-led study abroad experience, internships, careers and compensation, etc. Please join us on your department’s assigned date. This is an informal event, and the students will flow in and out of the sessions. This may also be a good time to have any departmental brochures/handouts for distribution.
Refreshments will be served!
**Please Note: All Times are 5:00pm – 6:00pm**
