LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — All students deserve to live, learn, and work without fear of violence or discrimination. Colleges and universities across the United States highlight their commitment to creating inclusive and respectful campus communities by launching campaigns or hosting events to recognize National Campus Safety Awareness Month in September.

In fall 2018, Lincoln University initiated its Protect the Pride campaign to promote awareness of the resources available to those in the campus community who are affected by sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, stalking and gender-based violence.

Protect the Pride is one more way Lincoln University has committed its efforts to provide a safe environment where all students feel protected, empowered, aware of their rights, and knowledgeable about available resources,” said Tiphané Purnell, sexual assault coordinator.

As part of National Campus Safety Awareness Month, Lincoln University will offer free professional development opportunities through webinars, resources, and tools that clarify areas of campus safety prevention and response work that are commonly confused or misunderstood. The Sexual Violence, Prevention and Education Program Kickoff Expo on September 4, featured internal and external stakeholders, including the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, the Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County, Inc. and the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, Inc.

“We are focused on providing answers that give a greater understanding of campus safety requirements and implementation so we can effectively Learn. Liberate. and Lead,” said Purnell.
