Baseball loses two to Queens

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Lincoln University baseball team fell in both ends of its East Coast Conference doubleheader with Queens College Saturday.

Lincoln (4-13 overall, 4-7 ECC) returns to the diamond 3 p.m. Friday at Mercy to begin a three-game series with the Mavericks.

GAME ONE: QUEENS 13, LINCOLN 4

Sophomore Willie Hines (Bowie, Md./Bowie) (Bowie, Md./Bowie) reached base four times Saturday, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three stolen bases in the loss. He was the only player with multiple knocks.

Senior Kashif Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) and junior Jordan Rorer (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) each recorded an RBI.

Freshman Luis Miguel Reinoso (Beltsville, Md./High Point), 0-4, (Beltsville, Md./High Point) surrendered nine runs (seven earned) on 10 hits over six innings of work.

GAME TWO: QUEENS 5, LINCOLN 1

A four-run fourth inning provided the margin as Lincoln fell in the back end of the doubleheader, 5-1.

Three players – Hill, senior Max Guadalupe (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS of Telecommunication Arts) (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS of Telecommunications), and freshman Jefry Azcona (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) – all had singles. Guadalupe opened the fifth with a single and moved to second on a single by Azcona. Both moved up a base on a wild pitch, and then Guadalupe scored on another wild pitch.

Senior Rolando Alvarez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional), 1-3, (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional) went all seven innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts.
