Beltre earns first team All-ECC

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa . – Lincoln University baseball senior Elias Beltre (New York, N.Y./LAM International School) has made LU Division II history.

Beltre (New York, N.Y./LAM International School) is the first Lincoln baseball player in the Division II era to earn first-team all-conference recognition as the outfielder earned first-team All-East Coast Conference (ECC) laurels, the conference announced today (May 13, 2021).

"Elias came to us after taking some time off from school a few years ago. I knew he could swing the bat and bring leadership to our program, and when given the chance, he made the most of his opportunity. I am proud to see him get some accolades for what he accomplished this year. He along with his fellow teammates helped raise our batting average to the highest it has been in my tenure here.

"He has always been a reliable teammate and I am happy to see him get recognized for his accomplishments this year on the field," Pla continued. "I believe that Elias, along with his fellow graduating seniors, has left behind something we can use to help us move forward in a big way next year. Congratulations to Elias on this amazing honor and for being the first-ever First Team All-ECC honoree at Lincoln University."

He joins Kashif Hill (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) as the only two Lions to earn postseason recognition from the ECC, and just the four Lincoln baseball to earn all-conference recognition since LU moved to NCAA Division II.

The right fielder was second in the conference with a .662 slugging percentage, thanks in part to a league-leading 12 doubles. Beltre was also fourth in the conference with four home runs.

Beltre started in 22 games with a slash line of .363/.457/.663 with 15 RBI. He registered at least one hit in 17 of the team's 22 games, seven games with multiple knocks. He had two games with four hits, including going 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two doubles, and a homer against nationally-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas.
