LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - Lincoln University senior women's soccer player Cedar Davidson (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada/Aurora) has earned Academic All-District honors from College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced today (June 3, 2021).
Davidson (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada/Aurora) becomes the second Lincoln University student-athlete since the Lions joined NCAA Division II to earn the academic award. Women's soccer player Tara O'Brien earned the award in 2012.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, women's soccer players were based on their career stats and extracurricular activities.
"I am very proud of Cedar, who understands what hard work is all about both on the field and in the classroom," said Lincoln University women's soccer coach Emmanuel Awotula. "Cedar has always embodied what the Lincoln soccer team strives to be. She showed us that you can play sports, be a member of the senate, an active student on campus and still be a true student-athlete."
She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in biology and had a plethora of activities away from the soccer pitch. Davidson was the 2020-21 Lincoln University Woman of the Year. A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, she was the President of Pro-Tempore of SGA, President of SACNAS (Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science) and captain of the women's soccer team.
Additionally, Davidson was a member of MAPS (Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students), the Biology Club, and an Executive Board Member of SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee). She is also a member of four different honor societies; Beta Beta Beta Biological Honors Society, Alpha Mu Gamma Foreign Language Honors Society, Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honors Society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Davidson moves to the national ballot, and the Academic All-America Team will be announced Tuesday, July 6.
