LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Lincoln University volleyball team, fresh off its first win of the season, fell to regional foe West Chester in straight sets (25-11, 25-15, 25-18) Tuesday in non-conference action at Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams were tied at five, but West Chester tallied 20 of the last 26 points to secure the win in the first set.
- Lincoln jumped out to the 5-2 lead in the second set, and the two teams were tied at seven. The Golden Rams gained some breathing room by scoring seven of the next eight points and put the set away with an 8-2 run to take the 2-0 lead.
- For the second consecutive set, the Lions jumped out to an early lead – scoring the first four points and seven of the first nine. Lincoln held the 14-11 lead before the Golden Rams tallied 15 of the last 19 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Junior Kaiya Lewis (Queens, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) led the team with two solo blocks and three block assists to go along with three kills on seven attempts (.143 hitting percentage).
- Junior Janae Stackhouse (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore PolyTech) led the team with four kills with three block assists, while freshman Erinn Taylor (Romulus, MI/Romulus Summit Academy) finished with three kills and two block assists.
- Freshman Jaida Lumpkin (Middletown, Del./Middletown) had a team-high eight assists and a service ace, while freshman Mariah Webster (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) finished with a team-high five digs.

- Lincoln returns to Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association action 6 p.m. Thursday, hosting Elizabeth City State.
