Volleyball falls in straight sets to WCU

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. -  The Lincoln University volleyball stepped away from Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association action and fell to West Chester in straight sets, 25-17, 25-11, 25-10, Saturday at Hollinger Fieldhouse in West Chester, Pa.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lincoln got off to a fast start by scoring seven of the first nine points, five of which came with freshman Mariah Webster (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) serving. West Chester answered with a 9-2 spurt to claim the lead.
  • The Golden Rams tallied six straight after the game was tied at 12, and cruised to the victory.
  • West Chester scored 11 of the last 15 points to secure the second set.
  • Lincoln fell behind early as WCU scored six of the first eight points, and then West Chester sealed the win by scoring 12 of the last 15 points.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Junior Kaiya Lewis (Queens, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) tallied six of the team's 13 kills. She added three block solos, an assisted block, and a service ace.
  • Freshman Jaida Lumpkin (Middletown, Del./Middletown) finished with 12 assists, marking the third time in four matches she has recorded double-digit digs. She added three digs.
  • Webster finished with six digs and a service ace.
