Extending scoring drought upends Lions

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – An extended run that spanned the end of the first half and beginning of the second half was too much for the Lincoln University men's basketball team to overcome as the Lions fell to West Chester, 97-75, in the second day of the CIAA/PSAC Challenge Saturday.

The Golden Rams went on a 15-2 run over the seven-plus minute span turning Lincoln's six-point lead into a 13-point deficit. Four turnovers to end the first half and seven missed shots to start the second half contributed to the game-changing run.

Lincoln turned the ball over 15 times in the game, which led to 29 West Chester points. Additionally, the Lions yielded 22 offensive rebounds, helping WCU to 30 second-chance points.

Senior Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double to start the season.

Freshman Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J. /University) added 17 points to start his collegiate career with back-to-back double-digit scoring games, while junior Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) contributed 13 points and a team-high five assists.
Lincoln (1-1) returns to the hardwood for its home opener, hosting Holy Family 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
