Two Tracks to Undergraduate Research Success:
Skills-building Workshops and Faculty-Mentored Research Experience
The purpose of the Undergraduate Research Program is to foster and promote multi-discipline undergraduate research engagement opportunities to students at Lincoln University. Students meeting the minimum program requirements regardless of discipline area or classification are encouraged to apply.
Students will receive up to $300 per semester of acceptable program enrollment. The program is very competitive and will be limited to twenty-five students per cohort. All students completing the program will be provided a certificate of completion in addition to the stipend.
Program Tracks
- Track I designation is for students who have never engaged in undergraduate research and would like to enroll in the Undergraduate Research program.
- Track II designation is for students who are currently researching with a faculty mentor and will continue the research with the mentor throughout the Fall 18 and Spring 19 semesters.
The requirements for both tracks include:
- First Semester Freshmen: High School GPA 2.5 or higher
- Freshmen enrolled in their second semester and Sophomore through Senior with a 2.5 or higher GPA (Seniors must be able to enroll in both Fall 18 and Spring 19).
- Not currently receiving funding from another grant source
- The student applicant must complete the application process and upload a 150-word essay explaining why he or she should be accepted into the program and what he or she hopes to gain from the program.
- The student applicant must commit to attending the research skills building one-hour workshops during the Fall 18 semester. (Workshops will be scheduled once a week with two occurring on the same day one in the morning and one in the afternoon to accommodate student schedules) *students are only required to attend one workshop per day of schedule.
- The student applicant agrees to locate a faculty by the end of the Fall 18 semester to serve as his or her research mentor during Spring 2019.
- The student applicant must agree to submit a written research proposal describing the intended research study to be conducted during Spring 2019 (the research proposal must be developed by the student and his or her faculty mentor).
