Message from the Chair

The Department of Psychology and Human Services is committed to providing a solid foundation for students to experience and engage in comprehensive course study, disciplined research, and professional applications of interventions for the betterment of the human condition.

Our diverse faculty are dedicated and continually engaged in scholarly activities and assessments that result in the implementation of courses/programs that emphasize relevant theories, research, strategies, technologies, and ethical considerations. Of particular interest is encouraging our students to respect the research enterprise necessary for safeguarding diverse communities. Learning the limits and applicability of psychometric instruments, diagnostics, and cultural responsiveness lays a foundation for our students to creatively address the needs of those with whom they share a lived experience and hopes for the future. Likewise our Human Service program prepares students for successful careers in the helping professions putting their interdisciplinary training and knowledge to work in varied areas including community agencies, state, government, private employment,non-profit organizations.

The Psychology and Humans Services department takes pride in producing students prepared for professional careers and to pursue graduate studies.
