Timely Warnings

In the event that a situation arises, either on or off campus, that in the judgment of the Director of Public Safety or the Chief of Police constitutes an immediate or continuing threat, a campus wide “Timely Warning” will be issued. The primary warning will be issued through the University e-mail system and the IRIS dispatch system to students, faculty and staff.

Depending on the particular circumstances, especially in all situations that could pose an ongoing threat to the community and to visitors, the Department of Public Safety may also post a Timely Warning notice on the University web site, alerting those outside the University community of potential hazards.  The Department of Communications will also issue news releases and social media alerts as needed.

Anyone with information warranting a timely warning should report the circumstances to the Department of Public Safety by phone at extensions 8139, 7211,or 7212 or in person at the dispatch center inside the Public Safety located in the International Cultural Center (ICC).

SAFETY IS EVERYONE'S RESPONSIBILITY.
