Lincoln University, PA - Students in the Master of Science in Business program traveled to Dublin, Ireland, June 29 through July 10. 2015 for a leadership and business program in partnership with the Irish American University/American College Dublin. Accompanied by the program director and MSB professor, Dr. Oswald Richards, students immersed themselves in Ireland’s economic, financial and political system. A core principle of the program was to expand the students’ worldview and enrich their experiences outside of the American domestic system.
In 2013 and 2014, students in the graduate program studied at Escuela De Espanol in Burgos, Spain. This year, the program returned to Ireland where the program began in 2007. Depending on the program’s destination, the experience is always unique, no matter how many times they return. This goes for the students as well as the instructors.
“Every year I learn something new,” said Dr. Richards, who teaches a section on strategic management. “With the pace of the ever-changing world economy, I’m consistently adding a new perspective to the main-line discussion on management.”
Another core principle of the program is off-campus activities. Students visited the U.S. Embassy as well as the European Union/ Commission headquarters. Dr. Pat Ivory, head of the European Union and International Development, delivered an in-class lecture on doing business in the European Union and Ireland. A little known fact: more than 700 U.S. companies operate in Ireland, investing over $200 billion with 140,000 employees.
