LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – Lincoln University has made arrangements for students who are willing to travel to Washington D.C. or remain on campus for the January 20, 2009 inauguration.
The Student Government Association has scheduled a bus trip to the nation’s capital for approximately 100 students. The two buses will be departing from Manuel Rivero Hall (gymnasium) at 4 a.m. and will be returning to campus by 7 p.m.
On campus, there will be a live broadcast of the inauguration in the newly renovated Ware Center Theater. The viewing will start at 10:30 a.m. and will be open to students, faculty and staff. A panel discussion will be held directly after the broadcast. The exchange will be in response to the inaugural address and will be moderated by Dr. Judith Thomas, Dean of Social Sciences and Behavioral studies. The discussion will involve six panelist and input from visiting faculty and students.
Founded in 1854, Lincoln University, located in Chester County, PA, is a premier, historically Black University that combines the best elements of a liberal arts and sciences-based undergraduate core curriculum and selected graduate programs to meet the needs of those living in a highly technological and global society. The University is nationally recognized as a major producer of African Americans with undergraduate degrees in the physical sciences (chemistry and physics); computer and informational sciences; biological and life sciences. Lincoln has an enrollment of 2,500 undergraduate and graduate students.
