Efforts Hopes To Promote Campus-wide Sustainability Efforts
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA — The Lincoln University establishes its 1,854 Acts of Green Initiative on Wednesday, Oct. 23 in recognition of Campus Sustainability Day (CSD), an annual celebration of sustainability in higher education.
Every October, colleges and universities are encouraged to create events to recognize the achievements of, and challenges for, the tens of thousands of students, faculty, and staff working to instill sustainability principles in higher education institutions and their surrounding communities.
“The Lincoln University and its students are committed to making sustainability part of our culture,” said Dr. Robert R. Jennings, president of The Lincoln University. “The community and the world will soon realize that the Orange & Blue is the new GREEN!”
Lincoln’s new campus wide initiative, based on the university’s founding year of 1854, encourages students, campus organizations and university departments to develop efforts or projects that focus on the three pillars of Sustainability: economic, social and environmental.
During the campaign, each Act of Green will be assigned a number to be included on all promotional materials highlighting it to the campus community. The aim is to have 1,854 Acts of Green completed on this campus by May 2014 in an effort to educate and promote a Green & Sustainable Life.
