Kevin E. Favor, professor of psychology at Lincoln University, has earned the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Education Alumni Association at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for his contributions to the field of education.

Calling him a “highly regarded colleague” and “successful grant writer,” Dr. Patricia A. Joseph, interim vice president for Academic Affairs and provost said Favor is “most deserving of this distinguished award.”

“For close to 25 years he has served Lincoln University in varied leadership capacities including professor, Psychology Department chairman, and Dean of Students,” Joseph said. “He has been generous with his talents and accomplishments sharing with Lincoln University, the benefits of his knowledge, scholarship, and grant partnerships with major national and local mental and health care facilities and organizations.”

Dr. Denice Hood from the College of Education at Illinois nominated Favor calling him an “outstanding professor whose classroom embodies the spirit and vision of someone who is skilled in pedagogy and an expert in his field.”

“He is exceptionally bright, yet congenial and unpretentious,” Hood’s nominating letter said. “He is a skilled and empathic counselor and advocate with an undying commitment to justice and mental health.”

Favor will be recognized for his achievements at the annual Education Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Awards program in March in Champaign, Ill.
