Agramonte, Azcona tally pair of hits in loss

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - The Lincoln University baseball team dropped the home end of a non-conference three-game series, falling to Jefferson Sunday, 11-4, at the Lincoln University baseball field.

After the Rams took the early lead with a run in the first, junior Anthony Burgos (Bronx, N.Y./Mott Haven) brought home sophomore Damaal Sands (Nassau, Bahamas/Montverde Academy (FL)) with the equalizing run in the bottom of the frame.

Jefferson took control of the game with six runs over the third and fourth innings, chasing starter Nick Spurlock (Sugar Land, Texas/Kempner). Sophomore Josiah Lara (Plant City Fla./Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) came in to hold the Rams at bay for three-plus innings. Lara didn't allow a single hit in 3 1/3 innings with two walks and two strikeouts. It's the fourth of six outings in which the righty didn't surrender a single run.

Burgos was hit with bases loaded in the seventh, and sophomore Hilman Truss (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) drove home another run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, drawing the Lions to within four runs, 7-3. It was Burgos' first multi-RBI game of the season.

However, Jefferson added two runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

Freshman Miguel Agramonte (Fallston, Md./Fallston) recorded his second straight two-hit game, going 2-for-5, while sophomore Jefrey Azcona was 2-for-4 for his sixth multi-hit game of the season.

Spurlock (0-4) allowed seven runs, five earned, on six hits over 3 2/3 innings. He struck out one and walked three in the outing.

Lincoln (4-12) returns to action 2 p.m. Wednesday, hosting Kutztown in a non-conference nine-inning game.
