Baseball drops pair to Newberry

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA  – The Lincoln University baseball team dropped both ends of the doubleheader at Newberry (Newberry, SC) in non-conference action Tuesday.


GAME ONE: NEWBERRY 16, LINCOLN 1

Newberry scored in five of its six turns at the plate for the 16-1 victory.
 
Freshman Miguel Agramonte (Fallston, Md./Fallston) tallied the lone RBI, singling home junior Alex Jones (Bear Del./Appoquinimink) in the fourth inning. Sophomore Damaal Sands (Nassau, Bahamas/Montverde Academy (FL)) and senior Justin McClain (New Castle Del./Del Castle Tech) each recorded singles.
 
Sophomore Luis Miguel Reinoso (Beltsville, Md./High Point), 0-2, allowed six runs – five earned – on five hits in three innings of work.


GAME TWO: NEWBERRY 12, LINCOLN 1

Sophomore Josiah Lara (Plant City Fla./Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy) brought home Lincoln's lone run of the season, a RBI groundout in the sixth inning, scoring McClain.
 
Jones and Sands were responsible for the two Lincoln hits, both singles.
 
Sophomore Nick Spurlock (Sugar Land, Texas/Kempner), 0-2, allowed six runs – four earned – on seven hits in three innings of work.
 
Lincoln (2-6) continues its road trip with a non-conference doubleheader starting noon Thursday.
