Baseball swept by Griffins

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University baseball team dropped a pair of games Friday to Chestnut Hill in non-conference action at Maple Zone in Aston, Pa.

GAME ONE: Chestnut Hill 12, Lincoln 2
Junior Alex Jones (Bear Del./Appoquinimink) accounted for two of Lincoln's three hits as the Lions dropped the first game 12-2.

Jones singled in the first inning and connected on a one-out solo home run in the sixth inning.

Junior DeAndre Bowens (Rock Hill, N.Y./Monticello) had the only other hit, a single in the fifth inning. He could come around to score on a sacrifice fly from sophomore Jefry Azcona (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic).

Freshman Liam Palmer (Ford Island, Hawaii/Grassfield (Va.)) allowed 10 runs on 10 hits in five innings of work with three strikeouts and two walks.

GAME TWO: Chestnut Hill 6, Lincoln 0
Four different players recorded a hit as the Lions were shutout 6-0 in the nightcap of the non-conference twin bill.

Senior Justin McClain (New Castle Del./Del Castle Tech) had the lone extra-base hit, double, while Azcona, Jones and sophomore Hilman Truss (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) each had singles.

CHC scored a pair of runs in the second inning, an unearned run in the third and capped the scoring with three runs in the fifth.

Sophomore Josiah Lara (Plant City Fla./Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy),1-1, allowed six runs – five earned on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts over five innings of action.

Lincoln (4-16) travels to Kutztown 3 p.m. Wednesday for a non-conference nine-inning game.
