Butler wins pair of events

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA  – The Lincoln University men's track and field team competed this weekend at the NYC Gotham Cup in Staten Island, NY.

Junior Glenn Butler, Jr. (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains) brought home a pair of victories for the Lions as several other runners recorded personal bests in their events. Butler tallied NCAA Division II Provisional marks in winning the long jump and high jumps. He claimed the high jump with the mark of 2.04 meters and won the long jump with a personal-best 7.61 meters.

Freshman Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown) recorded the other event victory as he placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.65 seconds. He qualified for the finals with a PR of 8.57 seconds in the preliminaries.

Sophomore Dominic George (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) finished with a pair of personal-best times in the 60-meter dash (7.04 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (22.65 seconds). Freshman Clayton McLaren (Brockton, Mass./Brimmer and May) covered 800 meters in a personal-best time of 2:07.53.

Lincoln returns to action Friday and Saturday at the UMES Invite.
