Carrington earns three events wins

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – The Lincoln University women's indoor track and field team registered four first-place finishes and three personal bests as the Lions competed in the Bow Tie Invitational, hosted by Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA.

Freshman Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) had her hand in three first-place finishes, two individual and one relay. She won the 60-meter dash in the time of 8.05 seconds and then won the 60-meter hurdles in the time of 9.42 seconds. Finally, Carrington combined with sophomore Nakacee McNab (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport), freshman Destiny Pierre Mathieu (Drexil Hill, Pa. /Prendie & Bonner) and freshman Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) in posting a winning time of 4:10.92. Johns was the only runner in the event to complete her leg in under a minute.

Johns also won the 800 with the time of 2:26.18, while McNab established a personal record in the 400 with the time of 1:01.75.

Three student-athletes placed in the top seven of the 200, led by sophomore Aniyah Epps (Baltimore, Md./Western) – who established a personal best with a time of 27.20 seconds. Freshman Storm Wright (Washington, DC/E.L. Haynes Charter) placed sixth with a time of 28.15, while freshman Ade Conover was seventh (28.26 seconds). Epps also set a personal record in the 60, finishing fourth in 8.33 seconds. Conover placed fifth in the 60 with a time of 8.43 seconds.

In the field events, junior Lorielle Laforest (Chester, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) placed seventh in the shot put with a distance of 10.32 meters.

Lincoln will be off for a month before returning to action at the HBCU Battle on January 15 at the Armory Track and Field Center.
