Hudson keys game-changing run

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – With the Lincoln University men's basketball team floundering on both ends of the court, freshman Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) got in his bag and led the Lions to the 77-70 road win over Claflin in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association action in Orangeburg, SC.

During the pivotal 22-3 run that turned a three-point deficit into a 16-point lead, Hudson scored 10 points with two assists. He finished with a career-high 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting. It was just the third time he reached double figures in his early career. He added three rebounds, three assists, and three steals in the victory.

While Hudson was taking over the game offensively, junior Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) stepped up and took the task of slowing down a suddenly hot Claflin scorer. The Panthers' sniper had tallied 11 points over the first seven minutes of the second half, and Blue quickly turned the nozzle of his scoring faucet. For the final 13 minutes, he limited the scorer to just two points.

In the first half, the teams played essentially in a two-point phone booth as neither squad could pull away for the first 17 minutes of the game.

Claflin took its last lead of the first half with three minutes remaining on a three-pointer, but Hudson quickly responded with a three-point play and a fast-break layup for a four-point lead – the largest lead of the game.

Lincoln led by three points following a Claflin put back at the buzzer.

Senior Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) reached double figures for the sixth time this season, scoring 16 points off the bench on 7-of-10 shooting with six rebounds. Blue added 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while freshman Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J. /University) also tallied 11 points. Senior Isaiah Miles (Brandywine, Md./Gwynn Park) rounded out the double-digit quartet with 10 points.

Lincoln (10-4 overall, 3-0 CIAA) travels to Saint Augustine's 7 p.m. Wednesday.
