MBB Preview: Morgan State University

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa - The Lincoln University men's basketball team looks to stay unbeaten as the Lions travel to Baltimore for a non-conference meeting with Division I Morgan State University.

SERIES HISTORY
              The game marks the third meeting between the two teams with each side claiming a victory. Lincoln posted the 77-75 win on January 3, 2019, while Morgan State claimed the 72-60 win on November 16, 2018.
              In the LU win, four players reached double figures led by Deaquon Williams - who tallied 16 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) added 14 points and Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) scored 12 points.
 
SUPER SUB
              Junior Ja'Zere Noel (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) has played extremely well off the bench for the Lions. After recording a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double in the opener, the Jefferson College transfer added 23 points in 22 minutes in the win over Bluefield State. On the season, Noel is averaging 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds.
              His 26 minutes per game are third on the team behind junior Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) (31.0) and junior Bernard Lightsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) (26.5).

              After a pair of games, three players are averaging at least 20 points, led by junior Bernard Lightsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter). The sharpshooter is tallying 22.5 points on 60 percent shooting (15-of-25). He is shooting 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) from three-point range.
              In addition to Noel, junior Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) is scoring 21.0 points from his point guard position. The junior college All-American is second on the team with 7.0 rebounds and team-high nine assists.
 
A GOOD DAY-DAY COMING
              Senior Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) returns for his senior season looking to become the third player in school history with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds for his career. Through two games, Williams has 962 points and 787 rebounds. He is averaging nine points and eight rebounds on the season.
              Williams was the CIAA Defensive Player of the Year last season ago after leading the conference with 11.2 rebounds/game and 16 double-doubles. His rebounding average was fifth nationally in NCAA Division II.
 
THE ONLY
              Lincoln University is the only CIAA team playing non-conference hoops this season. The CIAA slate will begin on January 9.
 
FREE THROWS
              Through a pair of games, the Lions have made almost as many free throws as their opponents have shot. Lincoln has made 53 (53-of-70), while their opponents have attempted 54 (43-of-54).
