MBB Preview: Wilmington

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - Lincoln University men's basketball team returns to Manuel Rivero Gym for a non-conference meeting with Wilmington.

SERIES HISTORY
The two teams renew the series after a five-year hiatus. Lincoln holds the overall advantage, 3-1, but Wilmington claimed the latest meeting. The Wildcats posted the 73-70 win in the 2015-16 season. 

COMMON OPPONENTS
The two teams have shared four non-conference opponents – West Chester, Jefferson, Holy Family and USciences. Wilmington is 1-3 with a win over Holy Family, while Lincoln is 2-2 with wins over USciences and Holy Family. The Wildcats also have a 10-point win over Bowie State.

MR. TWO-WAY
Junior Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) leads the team, and is third in the CIAA, averaging 16.9 points per game. He is coming off a season-low three points on just five shots in the 28-point win over Cheyney.
He is currently sixth in the conference with 7.7 rebounds, sixth with 3.1 assists, and fifth in assist to turnover ratio. 

UP AND DOWN
Lincoln has yet to have a streak, winning or losing, this season. They have followed each win this season with a loss. The Lions are coming off a non-conference win over Cheyney Tuesday. 

STICKY FINGERS
Junior point guard Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) leads the CIAA with 86 steals (2.3 per game) in seven contests, while Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) is sixth with 1.6 steals per game. 

SHARE THE WEALTH
Junior point guard Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 3.4 assists per game. As the team, the Lions are sixth in the 12-team CIAA with 12.38 assists per game.

SLOW START
Junior sharpshooter Bernard Lightsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) is off to a slow start this season, but he is coming off his third double-digit scoring game of the season - dropping a team-high 12 points against Cheyney. 
Lightsey is third on the team in scoring with 9.8 points per game. The Philadelphia native takes 61 percent of his shots from beyond the arc, making 42.3 (22-of-52) percent. He ranks third in the league in made three-pointers. 

RESERVE CONTRIBUTIONS
Through the first five games, the Lions were relying heavily on its starting five as freshman Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J. /University) was the only consistent scorer coming off the bench. In the win over Cheyney, the reserves accounted for 46 percent of the team's scoring. 

LINEUP CHANGE
For the first time this season, Lincoln made a non-injury-related change to the starting lineup as forwards Isaiah Miles (Brandywine, Md./Gwynn Park) and Janaie Coates (Newark, N.J./University) moved in the first five. Coates responded with nine points and a career-high 12 points, while Miles added 10 points and six rebounds. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Wilmington comes into the game with a 3-7 record following a 67-66 loss to the University of Sciences Tuesday.  

WU has four players averaging double-figures, led by junior guard Randy Rickards, who is dropping 13.5 points per game. Junior guard Justin Thomas is scoring 12.3 points, while redshirt senior Kameron Cooper and graduate guard Danny Walsh are scoring 10.5 and 10.0 points, respectively.

Rickards is also lead the team with 10.0 rebounds, while Cooper is second with 7.0 rebounds.
