Men's Basketball announces Non-Conference slate

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - The Lincoln University men's basketball team has announced its non-conference slate for the upcoming season.

The six-game non-conference schedule has a pair of Division I opponents – Morgan State University and Saint Peter's University – sandwiched by a pair of contests.

"We have put together a very competitive non conference schedule," said Lincoln University head men's basketball coach Corey Lowery. "Salem is a high scoring team that won 18 games last year. They will test our defensive efficiency and effort right away. Bluefield State College is always a battle-tested team that traditionally plays Division I teams and is very competitive with teams in the CIAA conference. Morgan State is a tough Division I opponent who is picked to finish second in the MEAC.

"Saint Peter's University is another Division I program that brings back three all-conference players and the Coach of the Year (Shaheen Holloway) from a team that finished second in the MAAC last year," Lowery continued. "I also know first hand how hard they work since that's where I coached last two years. And we complete the non conference schedule with Washington Adventist that is just a tough hard-nosed team. I believe this schedule will help us prepare for the versatility and toughness of the CIAA."

Lincoln kicks off the season 7 p.m. November 17 by hosting Salem University at Manuel Rivero Gymnasium. The Tigers, coming off an 18-8 season, opened the year with a 97-77 victory over West Virginia Tech.

A four-game road trip is next for the Lions as they travel to Bluefield State 1 p.m. November 21. The Big Blue finished last season with a record of 11-13. Morgan State, coming off a 15-16 season, is next for Lincoln 6 p.m. December 1.

The Lions continue their four-game barnstorming adventure with a December 4 meeting with the Saint Peter's. The Peacocks finished 18-12 and advanced to the semifinals of the MAAC tournament before the season was canceled.

A return trip to Salem 1 p.m. December 19 caps the four-game road swing, and Lincoln concludes its non-conference schedule with a home game 6 p.m. January 6 against Washington Adventist. The Shock were 23-9 and advanced to the NAIA Division II men's basketball tournament.

Head coach Corey Lowery will be in his first season leading a Lions team coming off a 9-20 campaign.
