Miles' last-second bucket caps comeback

Lincoln University, PA - Down by as much as 18 in the second half, the Lincoln University men's basketball team mounted an epic comeback to secure a bye in the upcoming Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament with a 74-73 last-second win over Virginia State.

Redshirt junior Isaiah Miles (Brandywine, Md./Gwynn Park) rebound and putback with 2.1 seconds remaining capped the furious comeback over the final 8:27. While Miles' layup will be the momentum fans remember, it was Lincoln's defense that enabled the heroics. The Lions limited Virginia State to 10 points over the last eight-plus minutes, outscoring their guests 29-10.

After making their first eight free throws, the Trojans left the door open by missing four straight – including two with 22 seconds remaining.

The Lions roared through the open door when junior Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) missed three-point opportunity landed in the hands of Miles, and Miles dropped it through the cylinder.

Blue finished with a team-high 17 points with six rebounds, while senior Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) and junior Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) added 12 points for the Lions. Freshman Janaie Coates-Sinues (Newark, N.J./University) contributed 10 points and nine rebounds.

Lincoln (18-9 overall, 11-5 CIAA) plays 6 p.m. Thursday in the CIAA Tournament against the winner of Wednesday's Johnson C. Smith/Livingstone game.
