Preview: Virginia Union

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA - Lincoln University women's basketball team travels to Virginia Union for its fourth road game in five games. 

SERIES HISTORY
Lincoln has lost nine of the last 11 meetings with Virginia Union, and trails the overall series, 21-8. 

I BRY-LIEVE
Fifth-year senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin), a career 1,000-point scorer, is leading the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) with 15.8 points per game. She leads the conference, making 88.3 percent (68-of-77) of her free throws this season, and made a CIAA-best 64 made free throws. She is second in the CIAA with 2.1 three-pointers per game.

Coming into the season, the guard was named preseason All-CIAA as a backcourt selection in the conference vote of head coaches and sports information personnel.  

VARIABLE STARTERS
For the tenth time this season, Lincoln rolled out a different starting lineup. It marks the first time this season that point guards Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) and Jalessa Lanier shared the game backcourt. Lincoln improves to 6-1 this season with Lanier in the starting five. 

Fifth-year senior Bryanna Brown (New York, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) has started 16 of those 17 games. Three different players - Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep)Jade Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends School), and Lanier - have all started at point guard this season. 

ATLANTIC REGIONAL POLL
In the most recent D2SIDA Atlantic Region Poll, Lincoln is tied with Elizabeth City State and Shepherd for seventh place. The Lions are coming off a 71-45 win over ECSU Wednesday. 

ATTENDANCE
Fans are showing up to Manuel Rivero this season as Lincoln leads the CIAA in home attendance, averaging 729 fans. 

TRANSITION POINTS
As a team, the Lions are at their best when they can gain points in transition. The Lions are 10-1 when they register at least 16 fast-break points and just 2-3 when they fail to record 16 points. In its last win over ECSU, Lincoln tallied 30 fast-break points. 

FROM DOWNTOWN
Lincoln is second in the CIAA with 5.2 three-pointers per game and a league-high 83 total three-pointers. 

DROPPING DIMES
Junior Jade Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends School) is currently second in the conference with 3.5 assists, while leading the CIAA with a 1.8 assist to turnover ratio.
