LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – The Lincoln University track and field teams competed against Delaware State and Maryland-Eastern Shore during the 2022 Delaware State Sting Invitational in Dover, DE.
On the women's side, freshman Destiny Pierre-Mathieu, sophomore Nakacee McNab (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport), and senior Lorielle Laforest (Chester, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) competed well for the Lions. McNab finished the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.41, while Pierre-Mathieu – running alone – finished the 800-meters in 2:26.90. Laforest recorded a distance of 10.57 meters in the shot put and 31.80 meters in the discus.
There were several standout performances on the men's side.
Freshman Jameel Hoyes (Atlanta, Ga./Veterans) posted a time of 23.13 in the 200 meters and then recorded a time of 51.07 in the 400 meters. Sophomore Spencer Seide (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon) went 50.59 in the 400 meters. The 4x100 relay team of junior Dominic George (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham), freshman Jude Butumbi (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast), senior Glenn Butler, Jr. (Greenburgh, N.Y./White Plains), and freshman Nyle Buchanan (King George, Va./King George) posted a season-best time of 42.53.
Butler came back to win the high jump with a height of 2.05 meters, just .03 meters off a career-high, while freshman Jeremy Gyan (Bear, Del./Newark Charter) records a height of 3.50 meters in the pole vault. Freshman Jamal Maloney posted a distance of 38.31 meters in the javelin.
No rest for the Lions as they return to action Saturday at the Golden Ram Invitational at West Chester University.
