WTR competes in pair of meets

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA -  Lincoln University women's track and field team competed twice this week, once at the NYC Gotham Cup, and return to action less than 24 hours later to compete in the Collegeville Classic.

With limited participation in Collegeville, Lincoln managed to still place fifth of 13 teams in the event. The Lions was three of the five events that had participants competing.

Freshman Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) won the 60 (8.02 seconds), freshman Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) won the 200 (26.20 seconds) and freshman Jazlynn Church (Wilmington, Del. /The Charter School ) was the 400 (1:02.38).

Lincoln totaled its most points in the 400 meters as Destiny Pierre-Mathieu and sophomore Nakacee McNab (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, behind Church – who won the event. Pierre-Mathieu crossed the line in 1:03.92, followed by McNab in 1:04.09.

Sophomore Aniyah Epps (Baltimore, Md./Western) placed second in the 60 (8.35 seconds), while freshman Storm Wright (Washington, DC/E.L. Haynes Charter) added a seventh-place finish in the 200 (28.35 seconds).

Johns started the week with a third-place finish in the 60 with a personal-best time of 7.97 seconds, while Carrington had a PR in the 60, placing ninth with a time of 8.02 seconds.

Lincoln returns to action Friday and Saturday at the UMES Invite.
