Youth movement lifts WTR to fourth in CIAA

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA – Youth was served at the 2022 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships as the Lincoln University women's track & field team placed fourth of eight teams.

"The women's team did an outstanding job lead by Jazlynn Church (Wilmington, Del. /The Charter School ), Destiny Pierre-Mathieu and Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin)," said Lincoln University Head Coach Roland Whiting. "The aforementioned lady lions provided significant points and podium finishes to help secure one of the best Lincoln team finishes in the CIAA indoor track & field championships. I look forward to their continued growth and development as we close out the indoor season."

Freshmen Jazlynn Church (Wilmington, Del. /The Charter School )Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin)Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester), and Destiny Pierre Mathieu (Drexil Hill, Pa. /Prendie & Bonner) were responsible for 46 of the team's 48 points.

Church brought home Lincoln's lone event victory, winning the 800-meter run in a career-best time of 2:24.04, while Pierre Mathieu brought home second place in the event, completing the distance in 2:24.61. The duo combined with Carrington and Johns to run a season-best time of 13:45.12 to finish third in the distance medley relay.

Carrington recorded a personal record in the 60-meter hurdles, placing third in the time of 9.05 seconds, and then added a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter dash in 7.96 seconds. Johns added a personal record in the 400-meter run, finishing the distance in 57.55 for a third-place finish. She also placed sixth in the 200-meter run in a time of 25.96.
