Psychology (BS, BA, minor)

Program Goals

The Psychology Program at Lincoln University offers a Psychology Major, a Psychology minor and a Program Evaluation Minor. The mission of the undergraduate Psychology Program is to prepare students for careers in fields that require knowledge of the behavioral sciences and/or admissions into graduate and or related professional studies.  Emphasis is placed on exposing students to the field’s underpinnings and the limitation of their application globally and challenges ethically ultimately expanding students’ perspective of the field. The goal of the Psychology Program is to produce graduates that are prepared to enter the psychology field as a beginning professional and qualify for admission to graduate programs in psychology and related graduate and professional schools.  

Psychology National Honor Society 

Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology, established a chapter at Lincoln University in 1981. Minimum requirements for nomination are an overall GPA of 3.0, a Psychology Department GPA of 3.0 and twelve (12) credit hours in Psychology.

Outcomes

• Identify and summarize the major concepts, principle and theories in the field of psychology.
• Demonstrate effective writing and presentation skills for different purposes.
• Examine and discuss ethical issues related to the study and practice of psychology.
• Evaluate and discuss the applicability of traditional psychological theory to global populations.
• Develop, conduct and interpret a research project in psychology.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the Biopsychosocial framework as applied to psychological
